Masters of Lindy Hop & Tap is taking the year off.
After four years, Masters of Lindy Hop & Tap is taking a break in 2010.
Look for us to return in 2011.

I think most people in town got the impression that Masters never broke even financially in any of its 4 years. This might lead some cynics to wonder about the cause(s) for a "break" in that event planning.

Maybe the cynics could ask, "what will be done differently with Masters to make it a successful event in the future?" (assuming finances had something to do with the "break")

Rumors of Masters' demise are unfounded, and in my view, counterproductive.

Masters was never a money maker, and certainly that is a disappointment, but if that were the issue we never would have done the second one, let alone the third or the fourth.

One of the reasons we're taking the year off is to re-tool it. In part that is to freshen it up after doing much the same thing each year. In part that is to tweak the timing so that more people can attend. And in part that is to re-think expense and pricing. It's all rolled up together.

Masters '11 will be "new and improved". Exactly how is still to be determined. I'm excited by the possibilities - and excited to have some serious lead time to put it together.

As with everything, I am always eager to hear folks' thoughts and suggestions. You can reach me at:
